XStat 12 hemostatic applicator

Description The XStat 12 hemostatic applicator works by inserting a group of small, rapidly expanding sponges into the wound cavity using a syringe-like applicator. Once in the wound, the sponges rapidly expand and create the necessary pressure. Each sponge contains a marker that can be detected by X-ray to confirm complete surgical removal. The smaller XSTAT 12 applicator, with a diameter of approximately 12 mm compared to 30 mm for the XSTAT 30, allows for the treatment of penetrating wounds from smaller caliber bullets, stab wounds, and other life-threatening injuries that require immediate treatment. Indications for use XSTAT 12 is a hemostatic device for stopping severe, life-threatening bleeding from connective tissue wounds in the groin or armpit that cannot be treated with a tourniquet in adults and adolescents. XSTAT 12 is a temporary device for use for up to four (4) hours until surgical care is available. It should only be used in patients at high risk of immediate life-threatening bleeding from non-compressible, hemodynamically significant wounds (Advanced Trauma Life Support Class 3 or 4 hemorrhagic shock) and in cases where definitive care at an emergency medical facility cannot be provided within minutes. XSTAT 12 is NOT indicated for use in: the chest; the pleural cavity; the mediastinum; the abdominal cavity; the retroperitoneal space; the sacral space above the inguinal ligament; or tissues above the clavicle.
